The future of construction & its workforce

Written by:

Last week’s 60 minutes Australia showcased that the future of construction is here.

3D house printing.

The episode spoke about things like efficiency, sustainability, reducing time etc, but what I saw was that there was not a tradie in site.

The skill shift is real. This type of industry movement will see an increase in demand for engineers, software developers,  programmers, at a time where engineering enrolments at university have been declining since 2017!

The tech will evolve and the workforce will need to adapt.

And what about our tradies and the increase in their demand over the last decade? Traditional construction roles will transform.

Great time to start the upskilling/reskilling project don’t you think?

Moral of the story. Everytime there is a shift in an industry or similar, don’t forget to think about the future of the workforce and plan for it!
