The Great Office Mandate

Get your talent pools ready for this one.

Last month I posted that ANZ links their bonuses to in office attendance.

Other companies are now doing the same. AGL, Origin, Suncorp and others are also linking their bonuses to in office attendance.

AGL staff will risk having their bonus cut if they are not in the office at least 3 days per week, unless other flexible arrangements have been approved and agreed upon in certain circumstances.

In 2024 we will see more of this. Although unlikely that most workplaces will tie attendance to their bonuses, and not all workplaces have bonuses, work from the office mandates are here.

Engaging with potential employees and keeping your talent pool warm is going to be super important. Once these mandates come in there’s going to be a portion of your workforce who look elsewhere, and other employers ready to take them in.

We are on a trajectory for high turnovers where talent will be on the hunt for more. They will be putting their interests first more than ever and will be constantly comparing industries and roles to find something better.

What will they call this one? The Great Escape?
