Some 2024 HR and Talent Predictions

Welcome Back to Work!

I hope you’re break was amazing, and the first few days back have you considering your next holiday…

🌟 Lets talk about some 2024 HR/Talent Predictions to kick start the year ahead!

  1. We will see more Offshore work – they say talent is scarce, or maybe they’re saying it’s just too expensive for the output I am receiving. Businesses are likely to hire offshore, sometimes with higher skill sets and lower pay ranges. Another case as to why Cyber Security is so so so important.
  2. Cybersecurity to reach number 1 job/skills to have for candidates – I had fraudulent activity occur 4 times to me while I was on 3 weeks leave during the holiday season. 4 times! All 4 occasions within large national and international companies. Something is going on.
  3. Remote work and agility – of course, still on the agenda. I think towards the end of 2023 employer’s assumed they were gaining the upper hand. Likely that in 2024 employees will show there needs to be a decent amount of incentives to hold onto in office, top talent.
Cost of living may come into play in a surprising way, and employers will need to start convincing staff why THEY want to come to the office.
  4. Death to the CV – Why do you actually need a resume? We’ve known for YEARS if not decades that recruiters and hiring managers spend on average less than 30 seconds reading it. We will have Talent Profiles, with more emphasis on the assessment stage.
  5. What’s important to talent will change this year – over the last few years flexibility and learning and development have moved up and pay has come a bit down. I think with the ongoing increase to the cost of living, Remuneration may come back to number 2 on this list of what we are looking for.
  6. Skill’s shortage debates – Will continue to try to push the (correct) wave for skills based development and talent. It’s time to admit that all industries evolve at record speeds and we need our people to keep up for the business to survive.
  7. Skills will overtake qualifications – (of course a minority of jobs will still require qualifications for very good reasons) I’m talking about corporate roles. Come to think about it, this should have been done in 2023, with all that talk of skills first hiring.
  8. Traditional forms of recruitment are mostly out. We’re being innovative this year. Send me all the recruitment/talent/HR apps you see in 2024 please, I want to review them all!

I’ll have a think of some more about chat about it.
What do you think about my predictions? What other predictions do you have?
